It’s a new year, and that means organizing last year’s holiday haul!

This MomTalk Jessica is joined by a masseuse (who was once a professional organizer to celebs💁🏼) to discuss practical tips and easy stepsfor getting organized, and the link between organization and self care. Cleaning and organizing made easy for all personalities!

Be kind to yourself

Don’t be so hard on yourself. You deserve to be proud of all the hard work you’ve accomplished and everything you do for the family. Once you start being kind to yourself, it’ll be so much easier to pinpoint different organizational techniques and figure out what tasks need to be done.

Be kind to your people

Similar to being kind to yourself, it’s important to spread positivity to others as well. Everyone will be happier when they live in a nice environment, and organizing will be a lot easier.

Give yourself permission to be your favorite version of you

Don’t hold back! Allow yourself to be the best version and once you do that, you can get so much done. Be who you are and embrace your identity.

Relax

Take a deep breath and relax. Don’t stress out about every little thing because it will be so much harder to get things done. You’re a hard worker and deserve to sit back and relax!

Survey the damage, find the baseline

If you see a mess, find the cause of it before you clean. Analyze what’s been causing it and find a solution so it won’t happen again. Start from one point and work your way around so you don’t feel overwhelmed with the entirety of the space.

How bad is it?

Take a look around and try to see how bad the spaceactually is. Once you get a distinct understanding of how unorganized it is, you can then go from there and figure out how to declutter and organizestrategically.

Gather resolve, make a plan

Sometimes when we see a mess, we want to just dive in head first the second we see it. However, it’s important to gather and make a plan of what chores to do, especially if you’re recruiting other family members. Once a cleaning scheduleis established and everyone knows their task, then the job will get done swiftly.

Get into your zone

Focus is key! Don’t let anything else distract you from decluttering. Just focus on one thing at a time, and once that gets done you can move onto the next task. Getting into your zone while tidying up will help you get stuffdone quickly and efficiently.

Be realistic

Don’t put too much on your plate. Be realistic about what tasksneed to get done, and anything that doesn’t get finished can be done the next day.

Handle what’s in your hands

You’re human, and you can only handle so much! Just focus on what’s in your hands, and nothing more. Don’t let your mind wander off to the other million things that need to be done.

Show some gratitude

Be grateful! You have a house full of love and family. Messes happen, but don’t forget to show some gratitude to those around you. It’ll make cleaning up so much easier!
